Hello BMES families! I am so excited to serve on the board this year and look forward to meeting many of you at our events through the year. I have a son in 3rd grade and a younger son in kindergarten at BMES this year. Although I am a stay-at-home mom now, I have worked in the consulting and startup worlds for many years and graduated from the University of Richmond in 1999. Since college I’ve lived in San Diego, Birmingham, Boulder, Sacramento, and now Longmont hopefully for good. I have biked across the country with my husband, traveled as much as possible, and love to get out and do lots of different activities – anything to get out and enjoy our great state!

In Spring of 2017, a friend of mine asked me if I’d consider joining the BMES PTO board with her. The only position open that remotely interested me was the one where most of the work could be done behind the scenes (I’m an introvert, clearly). This is my second year serving the BMES community as VP of Communications for BMES PTO and I am so glad I took a chance on this position. My primary responsibilities include managing the PTO website, PTO newsletter, and PTO social media. Outside of my volunteer work with PTO, I hold an M.A. in Art Education and spend most of my time wrangling my three very loud children (all of whom attend BMES) and maintaining the illusion that I will one day have time to regularly practice yoga.

I’m looking forward to working with the PTO board this year. I am hoping to meet many new faces and families along the way. I have a 1st and 3rd grader this year at BMES, so I am slowly starting to understand how this whole elementary school stuff works. Before kids, I graduated from the University of Iowa with a B.B.A. in Finance. I worked in the corporate world for a bit, then entered the relaxing world of massage therapy, and then landed as a stay at home mom with my children. I support the OUR Center with my volunteer time, as well as HOPE for Longmont. I love sunshine, music, the color red, cooking, cheese, reading, art, yoga, camping, hiking, skiing, the Cubs, but mostly, being with my family. If you see me around, come say hi and introduce yourself. I will try to do the same!

I’m honored to be serving on the PTO Board this year. Although this is my first year as part of the board, this is our family’s third year at Blue Mountain and 22nd year in Colorado. I was born in Colombia, but raised in Chicago- Go Bears! I have a BA in Philosophy from Northwestern University- where I met my husband. Before venturing into parenthood, I wore many hats from Barista to Project Manager. I was even fortunate enough to host a radio show for my college station, WNUR! These days I can be found working at Blue Mountain as a Paraprofessional, volunteering, or trying to catch up on my knitting, crochet or weaving. I hope to meet many of you at our PTO meetings throughout the year!
